Infrared Photography
IR photography shows differences in surface temperature. During the (Spring/Summer) season, thermal gain from the sun is used to detect differences in temperature on the roof surface. Moisture within a roofing system will gain (solar) heat while basked in sunshine. Certain types of insulation hold a significant amount of moisture. After the sun exposure wanes, the surface temperature cools slowly to reach the ambient temperature of the air. Moisture within a roofing system will cool at a slower rate and this difference in temperature is our target to isolate an anomaly.
